Because Main Street is one of the nicer neighborhoods east of Cambie, Main Street homes for sale are listed for as high as $5 million. At this higher end of the Main Street real estate market, you'll find extraordinary detached single-family homes constructed from high-end materials. These homes, which often feature over 4,000 square feet of living space divided over three stories, have gated yards of 0.14 to 0.16 acres. These types of homes need to be seen to be fully appreciated, and their ever-climbing price makes them a sound investment for someone looking to put a large sum in real estate.

At the middle of the Main Street real estate market, where homes tend to sell for a much more reasonable $2 million, you'll tend to find four- and five-bedroom single-family detached homes with anywhere between 2,000 and 3,000 square feet of living space. These homes range in style, with some being over a century old while others date back only a few years. But you don't have to worry about quality because the older homes have all seen renovations to bring up to modern expectations: open floor plans, master suites, and top-of-the-line stainless steel appliances await you in these Main Street homes. These homes are ideal for families, as they offer comfort and space for growth. Most of them also have room for a laneway house, which you can build whenever you want to invest further in your property.

Finally, the least expensive homes in the Main Street area are charming, mid-century houses with around 1,500 square feet of living space. These homes, which tend to sell for around $1.5 million, haven't necessarily seen recent renovations, which makes them perfect for anyone who prefers a more classic style or who wants to remake a home according to their dream. These smaller houses should also appeal to developers, as the high demand for homes in the area presents a great opportunity to build something completely new and make a profit while doing so.

Main Condos for Sale

While detached single-family homes are the most prominent housing offering here, Main also has a growing selection of condo that should appeal to young couples or single professionals. These condos range from luxury penthouse suites to more bohemian apartments, but they're all relatively recently constructed, featuring modern amenities and open-concept floor plans. At the high end of the Main Street condo market, you'll find two-bedroom units with between 700 and 900 square feet of space, which generally sell for around $1 million. These apartments often have deluxe interior features, such as quartz countertops and high-end stainless steel appliances.

Main condos for sale range all the way down to around $500,000 for smaller, one-bedroom units. Even these cheaper units have sizable balconies and great building amenities—for those who have the means, they make an ideal alternative to paying Vancouver rent prices, so they should appeal to students and young professionals just starting their careers.

Living In Main, Vancouver

Living in the Main Street area offers a mix of comfort and culture. On the one hand, homes in this area are located near great schools and parks, including the magnificent Queen Elizabeth park, making this neighbourhood ideal for raising a family. Main Street itself, however, is a cultural hotspot, considered one of the coolest streets in North America—you can find bars, restaurants, and shops of all shapes and sizes, making this area great for young people and anyone who appreciates Vancouver's eclectic culture.

Homes in the Main Street area are also extremely well-connected to the rest of the city. As Main Street goes directly to Downtown Vancouver, it's a breeze to get to work or to visit one of Vancouver's many beaches. Students will be happy to know that there's a bus going directly to UBC along 41st street, and the Canada Line station nearby on Cambie Street makes it easy to get to the airport and anywhere in the greater Vancouver area.
